All the details on this great British designer outlet hidden in the depths of London (It's like a sample sale, only better!)

This week the team have been out in search of the ever elusive Burberry outlet.

Burberry was founded in 1856 by 21-year-old Thomas Burberry who opened his first shop in Hampshire, and since then his label has come a very long way.

Burberry is now a global luxury brand with followers such as Sienna Miller and Gwyneth Paltrow and a turnover of more than £700 milllion.

So, naturally our search for their outlet led us to… Hackney.

Clothing and accessories typically have a third to 50% off. Plus, the outlet really is very nice once you get there. Well worth a visit, especially if you find yourself with an odd craving for one of their scarves just like I did.

Address: 29 Chatham Place, Hackney, London, E9 6LP

Nearest Tube: Bethnal Green – note, it is a bit of a trek from the tube – much better to persuade some kind sole to drive you or get a cabbie

Opening hours: Monday – Saturday 10.00am – 6.00pm , Sunday 11.00am – 5.00pm

Phone: 0208 985 3344

The exquisite afternoon tea in the Orangery can't be beaten on price or setting

Visit Kensington Palace, a short walk from High Street Kensington tube station, for beautiful afternoon tea in a stately setting.

Kensington Palace has been home to the Royals since the 17th century and the Orangery was added by Queen Anne in the early 18th century. It has the most beautiful gardens in London that you can wander round for free at your leisure and if you desire you can tour the house itself, although this will set you back £12.50.

Afternoon tea is an amazing bargain. It costs is just £14.85 per person for their signature orange tea, with an assortment of finger sandwiches, signature orange scented scones with Cornish clotted cream and strawberry jam. Finished with a delectable éclair and orange and passion fruit tart. Served with a choice of teas or coffee.

There are three more choices, with prices going up to £33.75 for the Tregothnan English Tea, which includes a flute of champagne and a variety of dainty afternoon tea pastries. Still less than sitting in the generic grandeur of the Connaught or the Berkeley and having their least expensive tea.

See the full list of Kensington Palace afternoon teas here.

To book, call 0203 166 6112

Although not strictly legal, some of them are winning themselves great reputations for serving good food in a lively atmosphere. One of them is Ms Marmitelover’s.

The extravagant Ms Marmite (a former rock photographer for NME) resides somewhere secret in Kilburn. She freshly prepares all her own wonderful food and only cooks using her traditional aga. Numbers are obviously always limited as the food is served in her beautiful home, where you will be served by her loyal volunteer staff.

It typically costs £30.00 for a 3-course meal.

Visit her blog for more info or to book tickets online (you’ll be emailed the address the night before – very 007!).
